BREAKING: Former NHL player dies from brain cancer at the age of 45

It’s with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Sasha Lakovic from brain cancer at the age of 45.
“One day at a time … take every day like it is a blessing, then that’s it. It’s gone,” Lakovic said to Global News in 2016.

“I had a good life,” he said through tears, “I had a great life.” “I’ll fight to the end, that’s for sure.” He continued.

Former NHL player Sasha “Pitbull” Lakovic was fighting the biggest battle of his life—terminal brain cancer.

Sasha Lakovic played for the New Jersey Devils (1996-97, 1997-98 &1998-99) and the Calgary Flames (1996-97). He played a total 37 games in the NHL, scored 0 goal and registered 4 assists.

Lakovic is survived by his wife and 4 children. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and his friends.
