Breaking: Former NHL player reveals who tried to use John Scott's kids against him.

One of the biggest mysteries of the past National Hockey League season surrounded reports that a National Hockey League executive had attempted to shame John Scott into skipping the all-Star game by implying his kids would be ashamed of him. Fans who followed the story will remember that Scott confirmed those reports while never mentioning the executive by name.

At the time Scott wrote this in the Player's Tribune:

“Do you think this is something your kids would be proud of?”

That was it, right there. That was the moment they lost me.

While Scott may have been too much of a nice guy to name names, another former National Hockey League player felt no such compulsion, and on Friday we finally learned who made the those comments. 

According to Steve Downie, that man was none other than Colin Campbell, and to make matters worse Downie claims that's also why Scott was traded by the Coyotes to Habs in order to send Scott to the far end of the American Hockey League in St. John's.

Downie claims that Scott got angry, understandable when a man tries to bring your children into the matter to insult you, and that's what caused him to be dealt.
