Breaking: Former NHLer one of the survivors of today's attack at Ft. Lauderdale Airport.

There are reports that a former National Hockey League player was one of many people stranded at Fort Lauderdale Airport in Florida when a gunman opened fire on innocent civilians on Friday.

A French newspaper in Quebec Le Journal De Montreal is reporting that  beloved former Canadiens forward Yvon Lambert and his wife were there when there when today's tragic events took place. Lambert and his wife reportedly hid under a table during the attack and have since been evacuated from the tarmac and made their way to safety with no injuries.

While we are of course very happy to learn that he and his wife made it out safely, our thoughts are with the victims of this senseless tragedy and their families.

An NHL team also had their plane diverted today, you can read that story here.

Lambert won the Calder Cup in the American Hockey League and was a four-time Stanley Cup Champion with the Montreal Canadiens.
