Joakim Andersson's career may be over.

A Swedish article published by the outlet Sportbladet has emerged this morning detailing the potential future of the 28-year-old. Andersson is currently a member of  Örebro HK of the Swedish Hockey League and played 205 NHL games for the Detroit Red Wings over his career.

Andersson has only played one SHL game since coming over from the NHL at the end of the 2015-16 season. A back and hip injury have prevented him from taking to the ice and he's yet to participate in training this season.

According to sources of the outlet, Örebro is actively pursuing a new center to replace Andersson. He's listed as day to day, but no one really knows when and if he can come back.

"We take it day by day. It's too early to give any forecasts about how serious it is and how long he's gone, "said coach Ulf Nordström.

According to information Sportbladet possesses, there is a high risk that this season is already over and that his whole career could be over.
