The Detroit Red Wings made quite a few bold personnel decisions regarding their prospects shortly before the 2016-2017 regular season schedule began.

When the organization decided to waive 24-year-old Teemu Pulkkinen, many fans were not surprised to see the Minnesota Wild snatch him up. Strangely, the Wild waived him yet again this past weekend and he subsequently joined the Iowa Wild.

When it came to 22-year-old scoring forward Anthony Mantha, the Red Wings brass opted to send him back to their AHL affiliate Grand Rapids Griffins where he is continuously scoring at a rapid rate of seven goals in as many games played.

Finally, when Detroit waived 23-year-old Martin Frk, fans began wondering why general manager Ken Holland was opting to ice veterans with limited offensive capabilities such as Steve Ott or Drew Miller instead of starting a "youth movement". The Carolina Hurricanes saw the potential, and decided to pick him off of the waiver wire.

Minutes ago, they proceeded to place Frk back on waivers.

Maybe Holland was right all along…
