Former Stanley Cup Champion Cristobal Huet will appear for a final time at the IIHF World Championship, an event that will be held in his home country for the first time since 1951.

According to a report from the Montreal Canadiens official website, Huet will be retiring from international play, and at 41-years of age it's no surprise to see him finally taking this decision.

This tournament will be extra-special for Huet who until this year never had his family attend an international event where he was representing his country.

"It's definitely a reward for them. I'm away a lot during the year, so it will be nice to spend that time together. It's probably going to be an emotional time for me," said Huet. "It should be really fun to have them there. They don't usually come to the World Championship to see me. It's going to be a time to thank them for what they've done for me."

While Huet has not played in the NHL for several seasons now he has prolonged his professional hockey career in Europe, although we do have to wonder if that may not also be nearing an end for the former NHLer.
