A New GM that will certainly bring leadership

Earlier this season, The Sabres asked the permission to interview former NHL STAR Chris Drury.

As reported by The Buffalo News, “The Sabres asked the New York Rangers for permission to interview their assistant GM, but Drury and the Rangers decided it’s not yet time for the move, Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman reported. Drury is in his first season as New York’s assistant GM after serving as director of player personnel last year.”

Rangers reached out this am … indicated organization declined requests, not Drury.” Reported by Elliotte Friedman soon after the news got out.

After not letting the Sabres interview Chris Drury, the Rangers promote him to general manager of their AHL team.

Early report confirms The New York Rangers made some changes with the AHL affiliate in Hartford. Assistant GM Chris Drury has been named Wolf Pack GM. Head coach Ken Gernander has been fired.

Chris Drury played 12 seasons in the NHL with the Colorado Avalanche, the Calgary Flames, the Buffalo Sabres and the New York Rangers. He scored 255 goals and registered 360 assists for a total of 615 points in 892 games. He won the Stanley Cup with the Colorado Avalanches in 2001 where he scored the game-winning goal.
