The Red Wings' forward group ahead of tonight's game versus the Rangers.

The Detroit Red Wings have traveled to New York to face the Rangers at the legendary Madison Square Garden tonight, and are looking to build off of their regular season home opener momentum. After decisively routing the Ottawa Senators by a score of 5-1 in an all-around great effort by every individual, head coach Jeff Blashill’s team is ready to secure their second victory of the young season against a relatively more challenging opponent.

 

Mike Green led the way for Detroit and netted his first career hat-trick last Monday, while veteran forward Darren Helm scored his second and third goals of the season with a little help from Thomas Vanek (2G, 3A) who has been absolutely stellar since donning the red and white jersey.

 

While Green will never be expected to realistically score on a regular basis, Blashill knows that he needs to count on his forward group to provide offense.

 

Thus, he will stick with the status quo in forming his lines for tonight’s matchup:
