It seems like the bad times for the Toronto Maple Leafs are not quite over just yet.

According to a breaking news report from the Toronto Maple Leafs Department of Public Relations, Toronto Maple Leafs forward Frederik Gauthier has been sidelined with an injury. The Maple Leafs are reporting that Gauthier has suffered some form of injury and additionally that the injury is serious enough that it will prevent him from traveling with the Maple Leafs on their next tow road games. The Maple Leafs will as a result face both the Buffalo Sabres and the Nashville Predators without Gauthier in the line up and then the 23 year old center will be reevaluated on Thursday. There has been no indication from the Leafs regarding how much time they expect him to miss as a result of this injury.

Gauthier is certainly not the most dynamic forward on the Toronto Maple Leafs roster but he has been a stable presence in the line up this season and has proven to be a relatively reliable center option for head coach Mike Babcock. In the 62 appearances he has made with the Leafs during the 2018 - 2019 National Hockey League regular season Gauthier has collected 3 goals and 9 assists for a total of 12 points. On top of that he has been very disciplined earning just 10 total penalty minutes on the season, while recording a plus minus rating of +5 in the process.

The Maple Leafs are currently in a serious slump as far as their form is concerned and the loss of Gauthier to injury is only likely to exacerbate that. We will provide more update on Gauthier's status as they become available.
