Gary Bettman confirms new bye week configuration

It’s the GM’s meeting in Boca Raton right now and Gary Bettman addressed the “bye-week” situation with them. 

As reported by TSN’s top insider Pierre LeBrun all teams on bye over a two week period, half the league one week, other half other the week. The current configuration was the league built in a five days bye week for each team into their schedule between Jan. 1 and Feb. 28.

With the new configuration, the NHL management team and the GM are expecting more parity between the teams who come back from a break and the others who kept competing during this time. 

The salary cap for the 2016–2017 season is also on today’s agenda. This information is more crucial than ever with the expansion draft coming ahead. GM will face tough decisions by July and certainly expect a salary cap increase.
