Breaking: General manager & coach charged with drug trafficking.

There is an absolutely bonkers story out of Orangeville today.

According to a report from the Orangeville Banner the general manager, head coach, and public relations director for the Orangeville Ice Crushers (formerly the Orangeville Americans) have all been charged with crimes related to drug trafficking.

These are just charges, so the men implicated are of course innocent until proven guilty but the GMHL, the Greater Metro Junior A Hockey League, a Canadian developmental league,  has suspended all of those involved and released the following statement:

"In lieu of current problems involving two owner-staff members of the Orangeville Ice Crushers, GMHL President and GMHL Commissioner have directed these staff members to step away from team activities until further notice. Effective immediately, Ice Crushers shareholder Jeff Oliver will take over the operation of the team as General Manager and Head Coach. The league is working with the Ice Crushers so that the players can enjoy and continue their hockey for the rest of the season."

The police raided a residence on Tuesday November 15th where they found $65,000 worth of marijuana and furthermore located marijuana growing equipment which led in part to these charges.

No court date has been announced just yet.
