It’s official, the Tampa Bay Lightning have signed former New York Rangers defenseman Dan Girardi to a two-year contract worth $6 million. The deal will carry an annual cap hit of $3 million as reported by Sportsnet’s Chris Johnston.

Girardi, of course, was bought out of his contract by the New York Rangers last month and, as such, was on the market as one of the top UFA defensemen. While it’s not surprising to see him snapped up some quickly, the price paid by the Lightning by GM Steve Yzerman has Bolts fans a little concerned.
