Earlier, we had the displeasure of reporting that both goaltenders Jimmy Howard of the Detroit Red Wings and Ben Bishop of the Tampa Bay Lightning left Tuesday night's game after suffering lower-body injuries.

In the case of Howard, recent AHL call-up Nick Jensen and Lightning forward Erik Condra fell awkwardly on the goaltender, and it appeared as though his right leg was severely injured. He would need help getting off the ice, as his loss only adds to the Red Wings' seemingly endless injury woes.

Head coach Jeff Blashill spoke to members of the media immediately following a disappointing 4-1 loss at the hands of the Bolts and informed everyone that while there is no specific update on Howard's status, he will be expected to miss at least the following week.

Coreau to be recalled

With that in mind, it should come as no surprise then that Grand Rapids Griffins' netminder Jared Coreau will be recalled either later tonight or early tomorrow morning.

Coreau featured in only one game earlier this season when Howard was injured and posted a 4.14 goals-against average and .889 save percentage against the Pittsburgh Penguins on December 3rd.

More updates to follow tomorrow.
