Two goalies who played big roles for the teams last season either have been placed on waivers or are expected to be placed on waivers.

First after rumors that the Montreal Canadiens were looking to trade him to a team in the Western Conference it appears that the team will instead opt to place goaltender Mike Condon on waivers, this despite the fact that he appeared in a whopping 55 games for them last season. If teams were interested enough to talk trade there is obviously a possibility that he gets picked up.

The second move although perhaps less surprising involves a goaltender with significantly more pedigree. According to multiple reports the Winnipeg Jets have put goaltender Ondrej Pavelec on waivers, this after he appeared in 33 games for them last season. Pavelec carries a cap hit of $3,900,000 and is owed a whopping $4,750,000 this season so his future appears to be in the American Hockey League.

In theory both of these men could be acquired by an NHL club, but with Condon coming in at the low cost of $575,000 while putting up similar numbers to Pavelec last season, he's the man to keep your eyes on today.
