Last night was a total surprise for many with a decisive 5-1 victory for the Predators at home in Nashville. Many took for granted the Preds would become a soft target for the remainder of the Cup final and they were proven wrong in dramatic fashion.

However, one central guy was missing from the Pens roster and his absence might explain in part the defeat of the squad. Nick Bonino was hurt back in Game 2 when he blocked a shot coming red hot out of P.K. Subban's stick. He was seen using a walking boot when he arrived in Nashville and the question was on everyone's mind : Would he play? In the end, he was missing from last night's battle, but great news emerged today.

The fact he laced the skates is pretty positive. For one thing, feet being too inflamated to be laced in a skate are not optimal to play in the Final, so he's a lot closer than he was from playing. It's unclear whether he will be fielded for game 4, but his huge physical presence makes all the difference on the ice. When Bonino jumps all around the ice, a lot of room is created for his teammate.
