NHL or AHL? Will anyone make a claim on the talented playmaker?

Buffalo Sabres forward Seth Griffith has officially cleared waivers and has been assigned to the team’s AHL affiliate the Rochester Americans.

The 24-year-old center is an intriguing player, but evidently not so intriguing as to warrant a waiver claim from any of the NHL’s other 30 teams. Griffith has just two goals and three points in 18 games with the Sabres this season, but he put up a remarkable 44 points in just 38 games with the Toronto Marlies last season. Prior to that, Griffith put up 24 goals and 77 points in just 57 games with the Providence Bruins in 2015-16.

He’s a former 5th round pick (131st overall) of the Boston Bruins who has put up points wherever he’s played, outside of the NHL. He has a career average of over a point-per-game at the AHL level, but has a difficult time adjusting to NHL quality competition. With his latest demotion and subsequently clearing waivers, is Griffith destined for a life in the minors?
