Breaking: Grubauer and Caps strike a deal
Keystone Press

Washington Post reporter Isabelle Khurshudyan reported today that the Washington Capitals have re-signed goaltender Philipp Grubauer to a one-year contract.

The news comes fresh on the heels of another report in which it was uncovered that Grubauer had elected to forgo his right to salary arbitration in front of a judge. Clearly, the 25 year-old goaltender and Caps GM Brian McLellan had been working hard behind the scenes to hammer out a new deal.

Interestingly, Grubauer will be in the exact same position next offseason, as he’ll still retain restricted free-agent status after his new deal expires.
