Keystone Press

The Montreal Canadiens have recalled forward Nikita Scherbak from the Laval Rocket (AHL), the team announced on Friday. Scherbak played 24 games in the AHL this season so far, scoring seven goals and 23 assists for a total of 30 points.

Drafted 26th overall in 2014, the Russian forward played two goals with the Canadiens this season, without registering a point. In three games played in Montreal last season, he scored one goal.

At the AHL level, the 22-year-old forward scored 28 goals and 68 assists for a total of 96 points in 142 games played (regular season and playoffs included).

The Canadiens are currently sixth in the Atlantic division with a record of 20-25-6. Scherbak will be available for both Habs games this weekend, against the Anaheim Ducks tomorrow and the Ottawa Senators on Sunday.
