Breaking: Habs expected to lose core defenseman.

Friday is not turning out to be a good day for the Montreal Canadiens.

Earlier today we provided an update on the Alexander Radulov contract negotiations and by the sounds of things they are not going to work out how the Montreal Canadiens and general manager Marc Bergevin were hoping for, and now we've got more bad news.

According to a report from Sportsnet insider Eric Engels, Markov is sticking to his guns when it comes to wanting at least a two-year deal and that has created an "impasse" in contract negotiations.

TSN insider Bob McKenzie appeared to echo that sentiment when he reported that he believes the ask from Markov is two-years at $6 million per season, a price at which the Montreal Canadiens are likely to let him walk.

More to come.
