Breaking: Habs forward has reportedly demanded a trade.

It appears that one member of the Montreal Canadiens is currently not very happy with the direction of his organization.

According to a breaking news report from Marc Antoine Godin of The Athletic it now appears that 24 year old Canadiens forward Charles Hudon is not happy with the way he is being used and wants out. Godin did admit that it is difficult to tell just how formal Hudon's demand for a transaction is at this time but there is absolutely no doubt that he wants changes to be made one way or another. 

It seems that Hudon's lack of playing time on the main roster is the motivating factor behind this demand and although we don't know if the trade demand was made official, Hudon's agent has left very little doubt in the minds of fans regarding just how his client feels.

"Charlie wants to play in the National Hockey League, whether that be in Montreal or somewhere else," said agent Allain Roy as per The Athletic. "He's a good player and we are waiting for a response, whether that be in Montreal or anywhere else."

When your agent is making that kind of public comment it leaves very little doubt regarding your true intentions. Even if Hudon has not officially made his feelings known to Montreal Canadiens general manager Marc Bergevin, the veteran general manager has undoubtedly now seen this report from Godin just like all of us have and he will likely walk away from any such statements believing that his player is no longer happy and wants out of town. 

Of course this could simply be Hudon's attempt at securing himself more playing time under stern head coach Claude Julien but the veteran bench boss does not strike me as the type of head coach that would respond well to this kind of a threat from one of his players. Add to that the fact that Hudon has not been a world beater by any stretch of the imagination this season and you may have a recipe for an inevitable trade here.

Through the 23 games that Hudon has appeared in this season for the Canadiens organization he has 3 goals and just 1 assist for a total of 4 points on the season. Add to that the fact that he has racked up 14 penalty minutes and boasts a plus minus rating of -8 and you have yourself a player that likely won't bring in huge value for the Canadiens. Teams will know that Bergevin is dealing from a position of weakness as a result of this report and you can bet fans in Montreal aren't going to be loving Hudon for this.
