Breaking: Habs get ready to present second offer sheet!

It’s not because something doesn’t work the first time around that you must give up. That’s the attitude the Montreal Canadiens are taking on today.

The Habs pulled a shocking move on Monday, signing Carolina Hurricanes restricted free-agent forward Sebastian Aho to a five-year, $42.27-million offer sheet. It was the first time since 2013 that an offer sheet had been signed. A day later, Hurricanes owner Tom Dundon revealed his club will match the offer sheet, but it hasn’t discourage GM Marc Bergevin from presenting an offer sheet to another player.

According to the Fourth Period’s David Pagnotta, the Canadiens, who were once believed to be in the mix to present an offer sheet to Toronto Maple Leafs’ Mitch Marner, are considering tendering one to Patrik Laine of the Winnipeg Jets.

The New York Islanders are reportedly thinking about making a move on Marner themselves, but let’s not count on the Habs on pulling yet another shocking trick!

There is no doubt the Habs still have a void to fill up front and aren’t afraid of looking like the bad guy, armed with offer sheet.

Let’s keep an eye on this!
