This is when you know the Montreal Canadiens a) have zero confidence in Alex Galchenyuk at center, and b) have awful depth in the center position.
Jonathan Drouin is dealing with a minor lower-body injury and will miss tonight's matchup against the Detroit Red Wings. Some (blindly) hoped that Galchenyuk would take over the reigns in Drouin's absence, but instead, a different player will get the opportunity.
Jacob De La Rose hasn't a single point this season. He hasn't scored in well over 40 games dating back to the past two seasons. He hasn't scored a single goal since the 2014-15 season.
Yet, he is now - temporarily - the team's number once center. Galchenyuk and Paul Byron will flank him on the left and right.
