The Montreal Canadiens have assigned defenseman Brett Lernout to its farm club, the AHL's Laval Rocket, on Wednesday morning.
The 22-year-old defender took part in three games with the Habs since he was called up on Dec. 22. He did not register any points, and recorded a minus-1 rating.
Lernout was a healthy scratch for the Habs' last two games.
The Rocket welcome the Toronto Marlies on Wednesday night, and Lernout could be in uniform in time for the contest.
