Breaking: Hartman lands vicious hit on Dahlin, gets in tussle in first game with the Flyers!

The Philadelphia Flyers were heartbroken on Monday when fan favourite Wayne Simmonds was traded to the Nashville Predators, in return for forward Ryan Hartman and a 2020 conditional fourth-round draft pick.

What should they expect from Hartman? Would he be able to fill in for Simmonds' physicality on the Flyers' roster?

Fear no more, fans. Hartman made quite the first impression during his first game as a member of the Flyers on Tuesday in the evening's contest against the Buffalo Sabres.

Making his way way into the zone in the first period, Hartman zoned in on Sabres rookie defenseman Rasmus Dahlin and delivered a vicious hit on the kid, who didn't know the Hartman train was coming to town. While it was a good clean check by Hartman, Dahlin's teammate Zach Bogosian did not like the hit and skated straight to the new Flyer to drop the gloves.

Hartman accepted the fight and the two players ended up in a messy tussle as officials tried to get them apart.

As he made his way to the penalty box for roughing, Hartman received a standing ovation from the Philadelphia fans and his teammates at the bench.

Hartman, a former first-round pick of the Chicago Blackhawks, was traded at last year’s deadline for a 2018 first-round pick as well as prospect Victor Ejdsell. Hartman has 10 goals and 10 assists in 64 games this season, averaging 13:26 minutes per game and is looking for more in Philly.
