The Philadelphia Flyers seem to have finally done it.

The Flyers and forward Kevin Hayes are closing in on a multi-year contract with an average annual value of around $7 million according to TSN Hockey Insider Bob McKenzie.

The terms is expected to be at least six years, perhaps seven, as McKenzie points out late on Tuesday.

Moments later, McKenzie confirmed that the deal was a seven-year contract, worth $50 million at a $7,14 million AAV.

Hayes scored 19 goals and 35 assists over 71 games with the Rangers and Jets in 2018-19, adding two goals and one assist over six playoff games with Winnipeg. He was on a one-year, $5.175 million contract this season.

Earlier on Tuesday, McKenzie had reported optimism in the negotiating progress and mentioned that the market value for Hayes may be more than $6.5 million on a six-year deal.

Hayes had reportedly been interested in signing with the Columbus Blue Jackets or the Arizona Coyotes if he had jump in the free agency waters. However, the Flyers sure put money where their mouth is.

Hayes' negotiating rights were acquired by Philadelphia earlier in the month from the Winnipeg Jets in exchange for a fifth-round pick.
