The Pittsburgh Penguins' decision to attend the White House visit, following President Donald Trump's comments on NFL players taking a knee during the national anthems has caused several analysts, fans and fellow players to take a stance on the issue and criticize the Pens.

After the team's morning skate on Wednesday, Penguins head coach Mike Sullivan decided it was time to defend his captain Sidney Crosby, who voiced his support for his club to visit the White House, and spoke out about the ongoing controversy.

"We have chosen not to use this platform to take a stance. There appears to be a perception we have. It's wrong," Sullivan commented.

"The fact people seem to think Sid needs to bear this burden of responsibility is unfair," making a point to defend his star player.
