It was a sweet and sour year for the Ducks, with a deep Playoff run cut short by the overwhelming Predators in a very intense matchup. Of course, when you reach the third round, anything can happen but coaches have a big influence on the results nonetheless.

It seems Randy Carlyle's job was good enough to receive a one year extension offer from the team's management today.

The news comes less than 24h following Paul MacLean's parting ways with the team by not extending his own contract. Carlyle has been behind the bench for only one year but he's brought interesting changes in Anaheim, most importantly grit and resilience. His original two years contract already covered the 2017-2018 season, so this extension will bring him all the way through 2018-2019.

Carlyle will have some interesting challenges in Anaheim, most importantly a roster getting older. It will be interesting to see how he will manage the shrinking Stanley Cup window while developing enough youngster to help the team stay dominant for years to come.
