Breaking: Head coach has been fired!
centralmaine.com

We have our first coach who has been relieved of his duties.

According to Nick Kypreos of Sportsnet, Florida Panthers head coach Gerard Gallant has been fired. If we were to poll people on who they thought would be the first coach fired this season, I don't think many people would have had Gallant high on their lists.

The Panthers are definitely not off to the start of the season they wanted, but i don't think anyone thought it would merit the firing of Gallant. Florida is definietly a team on the rise, so their current record of 11-10-1 is not what they expected. Last season the Panthers won the Atlantic division but so far this year, injuries have been a big factor. They have had some surprises but the loss of Jonathan Huberdeau and Nick Bjugstad have really hurt the team. Jaromir Jagr has been off to a slow start as well.

Tom Rowe will take over as interim head coach.

UPDATE: Assistant coach Mike Kelly has been fired as well.
