The National Hockey League has had a long history of punishing people, wether it be players or coaches, who take it upon themselves to publicly criticize their officials, but on Thursday night one head coach chewed them out regardless.

After having already taken a two minute minor penalty during the game,Toronto Maple Leafs head coach Mike Babcock wasn't done, not even close, and he let it be known that he was still furious with the referees when he spoke to the media after the game.

"People didn't pay to watch them (refs) play. They pay to watch the players," said Babcock as per TSN's Mark Masters.

When asked specifically about the interference penalty to Leo Komarov, the one that earned Babcock the two minute minor when he chewed out the officials on the ice, Babcock was so mad he wouldn't even answer.

"What's next," said Babcock followed by a paused before following up with. "it's a joke."

Masters characterized Babcock as "furious" in regards to the officiating this evening, and a lot of NHL fans, whether they root for the Leafs or not, are probably sympathizing with Babcock right now after what has not been a good season for NHL officials.

If anyone is curious Francis Charron & Wes McCauley were the officials calling the game this evening.
