Breaking: Houston billionaire makes official statement on NHL expansion

There are massive rumors of a potential National Hockey League relocation or expansion on the horizon with a new report revealing NHL commissioner Gary Bettman met with a billionaire sports team owner in the past few weeks. 

Katie Strang of The Athletic reported that multiple sources have confirmed there was a recent meeting between Bettman and Tilman Fertitta, the billionaire owner of the Houston Rockets in the NBA, at the NHL's offices in New York City.

Fertitta just confirmed on Thursday that he has met with Bettman and he is in the "early stages" of the progress. 

Bettman has admitted that Houston could be at the very least a consideration in the future if everything lined up correctly for a potential relocation or expansion. 

“If Houston were to express an interest in having an NHL franchise, under the right circumstances, it's something we might want to consider,” said Bettman as per The Athletic.
