For some time there has been a massive trade rumored between the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Anaheim Ducks, but that trade may have just hit a major roadblock.

A breaking news report from Greg Beacham of the Associated Press has revealed that the Ducks have lost both defensemen Hampus Lindholm and Sami Vatanen to major shoulders injuries. According to Beacham Lindholm is expected to miss the next 4-5 months as a result of his injury, while Vatanen on the other hand is expected to be out even "longer."

While it seems unlikely that Lindholm would have been the defenseman the Ducks eventually dealt to Toronto, Vatenen on the other hand has arguably been the player most often mentioned in these rumors. Needless to say such a critical injury could drastically impact his value, and furthermore could make wary of trading for him.

The Ducks of course have a stacked blue line, and could potentially trade a different defenseman to the Maple Leafs should they so choose, but this certainly adds an interesting new wrinkle to what is already a very hot rumor in the National Hockey League.
