Breaking: Huge line up rumors ahead of Canucks vs Penguins match up tonight.

The Pittsburgh Penguins and the Vancouver Canucks are set to face off on Saturday night and it sounds like there are going to be some major changes to the line up ahead of the game.

First, Vancouver Canucks insider Rick Dhaliwal of Sportsnet is reporting that his sources have informed him that rookie sensation Elias Pettersson is expected to make his return to the line up this evening against the Penguins. Although it's not official at this time Dhaliwal is an extremely solid source when it comes to information regarding the Canucks and if he is moving forward with this report I believe that Pettersson will in fact play this evening against the Penguins.

The 19 year old former 1st round pick has been out of the line up since a rather questionable slam from Florida Panther Mike Matheson, a slam that resulted in a multi game suspension for Matheson. Pettersson has been on injured reserve since then but prior to the injury he was absolutely on fire to kick off the 2018 - 2019 NHL regular season and appeared to be one of the favorites to win the Calder after the first 5 games of the season. Through those 5 games Pettersson recorded 5 goals and 3 assists for a total of 8 points and had a plus minus rating of +1 for the Canucks. His return is of course good news for Vancouver and significantly less good for the Penguins for obvious reasons, the question however will be how much his hot start is hampered by the injury that kept him sidelined for several days.

TSN's Jeff Paterson is also reporting that Pettersson was joined on the ice during the Canucks' morning skate on Saturday by Brock Boeser who also appears to be ready to go on Saturday night. The 21 year old Canucks forward was a game time decision on Thursday for a match up against the Las Vegas Golden Knights but he was eventually ruled out of that contest. With him out on the ice today with Pettersson it seems highly likely that the Canucks will get him back this evening as well and that's more good news for the Canucks. Boeser has not been as strong this season as he was during his rookie year, but nonetheless he has picked up 2 goals and 4 assists for the Canucks in his first 9 games of the season.
