The Vancouver Canucks were dealt a heavy blow earlier today with the news that Chris Tanev would be out for at least the three next games in California.
Fortunately, the team has a great piece of news, also on the blue line.
Alex Edler was confirmed in tonight's lineup against the Anaheim Ducks by coach Travis Green.
The veteran defenseman suffered an MCL sprain earlier in the season agains the Winnipeg Jets and has missed the last 12 games.
He has an assist in the three games he's played in so far this season.
With Tanev out, this is an important boost to the team's lineup.
The Canucks are an impressive 8-5-2 this season and sit 3rd in the Pacific division.
