This just in, according to reports from Sportsnet insiders Luke DeCock and Elliotte Friedman, the Carolina Hurricanes have traded top prospect Adam Fox to the New York Rangers.

No update yet on the return for the Hurricanes.

Fox, who was recently nominated for the Hobey Baker Award as the NCAA's top collegiate player for 2018-19, was acquired by the Hurricanes as part of their offseason blockbuster deal with the Calgary Flames for Dougie Hamilton. It's believed that Fox informed both the Flames and the Hurricanes that he does NOT intend to sign an entry level deal and will hit the open market as a free agent in the 2020 offseason. Obviously now, things are up in the air with the Rangers. One must assume that he has agreed to negotiate with the Blueshirts.

More to come.

UPDATE: TSN's Bob McKenzie confirms that the Hurricanes have acquired the Rangers' second round pick in 2019 and a conditional third round pick in 2020 in exchange for Fox.
