Injured Penguins skate and travel on team’s final road trip

When you have an injury list as long as the Penguins’, any news regarding potential returns is big news.

Caught on camera in practice today were sidelined defenseman Trevor Daley and forward Tom Sestito. Both players have missed significant time, Sestito has been out since March 21st with an upper-body injury, Daley hasn’t be in the lineup since February 21st with a lower-body ailment.

Both players were skating in yellow no-contact jerseys.

Multiple sources have reported that Daley will be traveling with the team on their final road trip of the regular season. The Penguins have four games remaining, all of which will be played on the road.

Daley’s presence has been sorely missed, the stalwart defenceman eats tough minutes for breakfast and contributed 5 goals and 19 points while maintaining a =/- of plus-9 in 54 games before being sidelined.

Considering the Penguins also have Kris Letang and Oli Maatta out of the lineup with injuries as well, the sooner Daley can make his return, the better.

Daley was quoted by the Sam Kasan and Nicole Jelinek of the Pens Inside Scoop as saying he’s happy “Just to get back in practice with the boys was fun. We're just going to take it day-by-day, but I'm feeling pretty good. I'm going to get to go on the (upcoming 3-game road trip), so we'll see what happens".

The Penguins play the Columbus Blue Jackets tonight in a game that may well decided which team has home advantage in their eventual first-round meeting in the NHL Playoffs.
