Breaking: Insider reveals Detroit's top 3 targets in free agency.
Keystone Press.

The Detroit Red Wings appear to have high hopes for the offseason, and acquiring a top end free agent forward appears to be the organizations top priority. Fans are likely excited to see what general manager Ken Holland has in store after he was able to move Pavel Datsyuk's contract in a brilliant trade, a trade that allowed the Wings to be aggressive in free agency.

According to TSN insider Darren Dreger the Red Wings are targeting three forwards, presumably with the intention of acquiring at least one of them during the offseason. According to Dreger the three names on the list are Tampa Bay Lightning captain Steven Stamkos, who has long been rumored to be of great interest Holland, as well as the New York Islanders' Frans Nielsen and Los Angeles King Milan Lucic.

It's three big names that will likely come with three big price tags in free agency, but the Red Wings appear to believe that this is  where their newly found cap flexibility will be best put to use.
