The Boston Bruins have three players entering unrestricted free agency at the end of the season, and according to Joe Haggerty, the Bruins brass may very well let them all walk.

Drew Stafford, John-Michael Liles and Dominic Moore could all be taking bids on their services come July.

Drew Stafford’s $4 million-a-year contract expire at the end of the season, the rental winger was acquired on March 1st from the Winnipeg Jets for a condition sixth-round draft pick in the 2018 NHL draft. Despite Stafford’s red-hot play for the Bruins, his asking price for a new contract likely will place him out of reach for the Bruins next season.

Veteran defenceman John-Michael Liles is also up for a new contract at the end of the season. The 36-year-old has played in 31 games this season for Boston, and has only 5 assists and a +/- of 0. Despite his affordable $2 million per year contract, Liles has seen his playing time cut down in favour of younger developing prospects. There may still be a place in the league for Liles, but it most likely won’t be in Boston.

Finally, there is another veteran in Dominic Moore who will most likely be let go in favour of bringing up younger prospects. The 36-year-old left-handed shot has 10 goals and 10 assists across 71 games for Boston this season. Moore can score, check, and brings a great amount of utility, but the youth movement in Boston seems to preclude his re-signing. Still, he’s a budget player (current contract is for only $900,000), and could very well find interested teams in the free agent market.

Time will tell, but if Boston is looking to get younger, these players will be looking for contracts elsewhere this summer.
