The Calgary Flames have placed forward Freddie Hamilton on waivers this morning. The 25-year-old brother of Flames defenseman Dougie Hamilton has played just two games this season, earning a single assist. Should he clear waivers, he’ll be assigned to the team’s AHL affiliate the Stockton Heat.

As FAN 690 reporter Pat Steinberg points out, the news likely means that rookie Mark Jankowski is with the team for good and it could also point to a lineup return for 45-year-old veteran Jaromir Jagr.

As good a story as it was to have both Freddie and Dougie on the same team, Jankowski has done more than enough to earn his roster spot. The 23-year-old forward has yet to register a point in four games with the Flames, but the big center has acquitted himself well and should start to find the back of the net in short order.

As for Jagr, fans have been holding out their hopes that when he returns he could find himself alongside Johnny Gaudreau and Sean Monahan. But, might he be better alongside Sam Bennett, who has struggled mightily this season?
