Nobody expected that Jaromir Jagr would still be without an NHL contract on August 4, more than a month after the opening of the free agent market. Even though the 45-year-old posted 16 goals and 30 assists in 82 games last season, it seems like some teams believe he is not worth the kind of money he asks for.

But it turns out he could go and play in the Western Conference, according to Mercury NewsPaul Gackle. The journalist suggested that the living legend could very well join head coach Peter DeBoer's team, especially now that Patrick Marleau has signed with the Toronto Maple Leafs:

"Jagr played for DeBoer in New Jersey and the Sharks coach is known for bringing in players he already trusts, such as Boedker, Dainius Zubrus and Nick Spaling. Of course, no one would plan to replace Marleau with Jagr, but with few viable options, it might be worth it to take a chance on the living legend, who’s still looking for a team to join."

The Czech forward recorded 16 goals and 30 assists for 46 points in 82 games last season. He played 1711 games in the NHL, in which he recorded 765 goals and 1149 assists for 1914 points.
