Breaking: Jerabek a healthy scratch in Rocket's season opener

Jakub Jerabek, signed this summer as one of the KHL's most coveted defensemen, will be a healthy scratch tonight in the Laval Rocket's season opener.

The AHL stipulates that only 6 veteran players may dress at any given time, and seeing as Jerabek is considered one, he's one of the odd men out tonight.

This is surely disappointing for the Czech star - he turned down lucrative contract offers in the KHL in favour of a minimal entry-level deal in the NHL, in the hopes of living the hockey dream.

He was sent down to the AHL by the Montreal Canadiens to get ice time and acclimate to North American ice, yet they've decided not to play him at all to make way for the team's other veteran players.

Is something up?
