The Winnipeg Jets have announced that they’ve signed centerman Michael Spacek to a three year, entry-level contract worth $833,000 per season. The fourth round draft choice (108th overall) in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft becomes the fifth Jets selection from that draft to earn an NHL contract.

The Paradubice, Czech Republic native led the Red Deer Rebels of the WHL in scoring last season, producing a remarkable 30 goals and 85 points in just 59 games. He was just as good in the playoffs as well, putting up 12 points in 7 games.

Once the Rebels were eliminated from the WHL playoffs, Spacek joined the AHL’s Manitoba Moose on a try-out contract. While he only produced a single assist in four appearances, the youngster did not look out of place. He’s expected to push for a full-time roster spot with the Jets as early as next season.
