The UFA market is supposed to be a closed lipped affair and nothing should technically transpire before the first lights of July 1st. However, the media being what it is, we get rumors and confirmation beforehand all the time.

Today, two reputable Jets insider confirmed former Flyers Steve Mason will be a Jets next season.

Of course, the deal won't be announced until Saturday with the opening of free agency. But a deal has been reached w/ #NHLJets, per sources.

Fully expecting G Steve Mason to sign with #NHLJets on Saturday. Whatever else happens on D or up front remains very much a mystery.

Mason will fit nicely in the Jets roster. Now, all that remains to be known is how much money will go his way. Expect a mid-term, loaded contract in the range of 4-5M$ a year.
