Great for his NHL career.

While the Nashville Predators fell short of their goal to capture hockey's holy grail, it was still a great showcase for a lot of their talented players.

On Tuesday the Predators announced that one of their veteran defensemen had earned himself a new contract, and given his status as one of the NHL's journeymen, this has to feel great.

From the Predators official release:

Nashville, TN - Nashville Predators President of Hockey Operations/General Manager David Poile announced Tuesday that the club has signed defenseman Yannick Weber to a one-year, $650,000 contract.

Weber, 28 (9/23/88), signed a one-year deal with Nashville on July 1, 2016, and appeared in a career-high 73 games while posting one goal and eight points for the Predators during the 2016-17 campaign. His lone goal with Nashville proved to be the game-winner on Dec. 30, 2016, at St. Louis.

Weber has bounced around the National Hockey League and American Hockey League since entering the league, and his most recent season with the Predators was also the one that saw him participate in the most games.

Coming off a 72 game regular season, the most of his career by a fair margin, Weber appears to have impressed the Predators brass enough to warrant being kept around. Great news for a veteran defenseman who has struggled to find a fit at the NHL level.
