Breaking: Karlsson, Pavelski and Donskoi out for the Sharks in the 3rd!

This is devastating news for the San Jose Sharks.

As you would expect the San Jose Sharks have come out for the 3rd period of Game 5 of the Stanley Cup Final but they are going to be without some key pieces in their line up. The first piece of news occurred immediately at the start of the 3rd period when it became readily apparent that star defenseman Erik Karlsson was nowhere to be found on the Sharks bench. Presumably this would indicate that Karlsson's injuries have once again caught up to him and you now have to seriously wonder what his health might be like for the remainder of this series and the remainder of the 2019 Stanley Cup Playoffs should the Sharks manage to advance.

Unfortunately the bad news did not end there for the San Jose Sharks as only moments after the period got underway they would lose another one of their core players. San Jose Sharks captain Joe Pavelski was crushed against the boards by a big hit from St. Louis Blues captain Alex Pietrangelo and it was obvious immediately that he was feeling the worst of it as well. Pavelski would not even stop on the Sharks bench, instead going immediately to the locker room . We have not had any updates on Pavelski's status as of yet but we will keep you posted.

A little later Sharks forward Joonas Donskoi was struck by a clearing attempt from Justin Braun and was reportedly "bleeding profusely" as he left the ice according to sideline reporter Pierre McGuire on the broadcast. Needless to say when you consider that the Sharks are already down 4- 0 in this game this is turning into an unmitigated disaster for San Jose.
