Breaking: Karlsson reveals dark secrets about Sens’ management!
Zuma Press

Erik Karlsson met with his new team and the local media of San Jose this week. He is getting used to his new Sharks teammates, the new surrounding and is coming to terms with the major trade that sent him away from his former club, the Ottawa Senators. Last week, on top of the all-star defender, the Sharks also got prospect Francis Perron, in return, the Senators received forward Chris Tierney, defenseman Dylan DeMelo, prospects Josh Norris and Rudolfs Balcers, a 2020 first-round pick, a 2019 second-round pick, and two conditional picks.

Karlsson also met with Michael Traikos of the Toronto Sun to share his feelings on this new chapter in his life. During the interview, he revealed some shocking dark secrets about the Senators’ management and we come to understand how quick the ship might be sinking in Ottawa.

The veteran blue liner revealed that the last time he sat down and talked with owner Eugene Melnyk or general manager Pierre Dorion was 10 months ago.

“I haven’t spoken to any of them really since November of last year when they asked for my no-trade list,” Karlsson told Postmedia News in a one-on-one interview on Thursday. “That’s the way it is, I guess. That’s the only situation I know that’s been like this. It was what it was. I was there to play hockey and I did that to the best of my ability with what we had. That’s all that I worried about.

“Everything else around it is above my pay grade. That’s not my question to ask.”

No word, for a full year and then, boom, you are sent to California! That is a toxic relationship caused by some ridiculously stupid management.

“It’s disappointing,” said Karlsson. “I was there for nine seasons. I never had any issues with the group of guys that we had in that locker room playing hockey. Every one that we had was extremely professional and tried to do the best with what we had. Everything else that went around it is something that we couldn’t control. All that other stuff is a question for someone else that’s above the players.”
“I’m sure that people are wondering what actually happened, but that’s not something that I’m going to get into,” said Karlsson. “I think everyone’s entitled to their own opinion. At the end of the day, they traded me.”

Geez, what an awful way to come, from the team that selected you in the first round, 15th overall, back in the 2008 draft.

One again, does this surprise you, coming from THIS guy?

Yeah, we didn’t think so…
