Kevin Sharttenkirk Makes MAJOR Announcement on His Future
It’s locker clean-up day in Washington. Different season, same story. The Washington Capitals were handed their third straight second-round exit on Wednesday night against the Pittsburgh Penguins. Every elimination hurts, but this one seems to be a pretty hard one for the Caps.
Every single player looked disappointed. Some of them said this loss has been the hardest he’s had to take in his career and the last couple days have been terrible.
Every insider had one question on their mind: What is going to happen with pending UFA Kevin Shattenkirk? Shattenkirk (pending UFA) hopes he and Caps can work something out. He enjoyed his time here but unfortunately, JJ Regan might be right when he reports.
“Shattenkirk says he enjoyed time here and would like to see what’s going on here, but def sounds like someone headed for free agency.”
The Capitals went all in during the season in hopes to make it far into the playoffs: they traded a first-round pick to St. Louis for Kevin Shattenkirk, and two second-round picks for Montreal’s Lars Eller.
Even though Washington had a tremendous regular season, their success cannot be translated into playoff wins. They won their second President’s trophy in a row, with a record of 55-19-8 for 118 points.
