The sight of Pittsburgh Penguins forward Carl Hagelin at the team’s practice yesterday was a boost for his teammates as they prepare to face off against the Washington Capitals in the second round of the NHL Stanley Cup playoffs.

Hagelin has been out of the Pens lineup since suffering a lower-body injury in March, but with his return to practice the team is hopeful that they’ll regain his services sooner rather than later. In the meantime, his addition to practice has provided a spark for his teammates. “It's pretty exciting to see him back out there,” said defenseman Olli Maatta. “When you watch him, you can see something special. It's that good.”

The Penguins are hopeful that Hagelin will be able to return to the lineup at some point in their series against the Capitals, but tonight’s series opener looks doubtful. One thing’s for sure, when he does return the speedy winger will give the dynamic Penguins yet another offensive weapon.
