Pinky swear for Methot

Just three weeks after suffering a devastating injury at the hands of Pittsburgh Penguins superstar Sidney Crosby, it looks like Ottawa Senators defenceman Marc Methot will make his return to the lineup in advance of tonight’s playoff game against the Boston Bruins.

Post media hockey columnist Bruce Garrioch reported this morning that Methot took the morning skate with his teammates, which indicates that he could be on the Senators blue line this evening.

The injury, in which it appeared that Methot’s had lost the tip of his pinky finger, was the result of a brutal two-handed slash across the hands from Crosby. Senators head coach Guy Boucher commented on the injury after the game and claimed that Methot’s finger was “destroyed and shattered.” The team officially called the injury a laceration, but the gruesome video evidence shows that Methot’s finger was chopped nearly clean off by Crosby.

If Methot does in fact return to the lineup tonight, he’ll be a welcome addition to a Senators blue line that also features a banged up Erik Karlsson. Until the team officially announces Methot’s status however we cannot confirm his return. We certainly wouldn’t swear on it at this point…and DEFINITELY wouldn’t pinky swear on it.
