Breaking: Key Senators forward out tonight!
Keystone Press

The Ottawa Senators will be without forward Mark Stone tonight to face the Minnesota Wild, head coach Guy Boucher confirmed this morning. Stone injured his knee on Saturday against the Toronto Maple Leafs. He left that game twice but managed to return and finish the game. Boucher also confirmed that goaltender Mike Condon will get the start tonight to face the Wild. Forward Chris DiDomenico, called up earlier today, will be in the lineup because of Stone injury, and defenseman Fredrik Claesson will draw in as well.

Mark Stone, drafted 178th by the Senators in 2010, scored 18 goals and 26 assists for a total of 44 points in 44 games played this season, and he has been the most consistent forward, if not player in Ottawa this season.

Stone's injury comes at the worst timing possible for the struggling Sens, as they're still trying to turn their season around. Things are not going well in the Nation Capital this year, and everybody was expecting a really good season after Ottawa lost to the Pittsburgh Penguins in the Eastern Conference final last spring. They are currently seventh in the Atlantic division with a record of 15-20-9.

The Senators have also called up defenseman Erik Burgdoerfer from the Belleville Senators on Monday. The 29-year old defenseman has ten points in 43 games played in the AHL so far this season.
