What a move this would be.

The Chicago Blackhawks as per usual don't have a lot of room to maneuver but once again it looks like general manager Stan Bowman may have an ace up his sleeve.

According to a breaking news report from Scott Powers of the Athletic, Maxim Shalunov is reportedly now considering signing with the Chicago Blackhawks for the Stanley Cup Playoffs, this just days after his agent stated it was highly unlikely he would sign with the Blackhawks at all.

From Powers:

Maxim Shalunov could be interested in signing with the Chicago Blackhawks to play in the Stanley Cup Playoffs this season, his agent said on Thursday.

Shalunov, a 24-year-old forward, was drafted by the Blackhawks in the fourth round in 2011, and his rights have been retained by the Blackhawks while he’s played in the KHL the past three seasons.

Shalunov is coming off the best season of his professional hockey career having recorded 19 goals and 18 assists in 49 KHL games this season, and it's quite clear that adding him to an already talented Blackhawks roster would be a huge coup for Stan Bowman.
